North Sunflower Medical Center is a Critical Access Hospital in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. It has a proven track record of providing highest quality services and a commitment to the community it serves. North Sunflower has been recognized by the department of Health and Human Services as a top 10 CAH in the United States.

Joanie has worked in health care management for the past 27 years. Her focus for the past 15 years has been on Rural Health, specializing in Rural Health Clinics and Critical Access Hospitals. She received her Certified Professional Coder in 2002 and her certified Health Care Manager from Indiana University in 2006.

Joanie has remained active in promoting rural issues nationwide. She has presented a variety of educational sessions for the National Rural Health Association, the National Rural Health Clinic Association, the New England Rural Roundtable conference, the IRHA annual conference, The National Health Service Corp, along with a host of others. She is currently the immediate past-president of the Mississippi Rural Health Association, a board member of the Office of Minority Health Region IV Health Equity Council , and has established a series of educational workshops for Rural Health Clinics across the state of Mississippi.

Joanie lives and works in a Mississippi Delta town of 4000 people. She enjoys her involvement with the town’s economic development council, and chairs the council’s goal team for healthcare.
