Darryl Crompton, JD, MPH

Darryl Crompton JD MPH, is passionate about fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice in public health and education. He most recently served as Tuskegee University’s Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel, where he provided guidance to the president, provost, and vice presidents to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Darryl was particularly involved with Title IX compliance related to campus sexual assault and sexual violence. Before joining Tuskegee, he served in senior positions at non-profit and for-profit institutions including the United Negro College Fund Special Programs Corporation, the Catholic Health Association, Masimax Resources, Inc., and the National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care at Tuskegee University. Earlier, Crompton was a tenured Associate Professor of health law and policy at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He has served as adjunct professor at Howard University School of Medicine, at Morehouse Medical School, and at Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health. Crompton has served on several boards, including the Washington DC Shakespeare Theatre; the March of Dimes, National Capital Area Chapter, Arlington, VA; the Sickle Cell Foundation of Birmingham; and The Training Source, Inc. At Yale University he was recently a member of the Yale Alumni Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, and currently serves as a member of the Executive Director’s DEI Working Group. He is also an at-large delegate to the Yale University Alumni Assembly. He serves on the Southeastern Health Equity Council (SHEC), part of the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities (NPA), established by the federal Office of Minority Health. Crompton holds a M.P.H. degree in public health and health management from Yale University School of Public Health, a J.D. degree from the University of California at Davis, and a B.A. degree in political science from the University of California at Los Angeles.
