Candace Forbes Bright, PhD

A native of Atlanta, Candace Forbes Bright, PhD is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at East Tennessee State University. Candace received her doctorate degree from USM in 2014 in International Development, focusing on social/cultural development, her Master’s degree from Norwich University in 2009 majoring in Diplomacy with a focus in International Conflict Management, and her Bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University in 2007 where she majored in Political Science.

She conducts research on the roles of social networks in social learning processes, such as those relating to health disparities and social capital. Candace’s work under the NIH-funded Gulf States Health Policy Center focuses on the study of partnerships in health, as well as the role of health in Gulf States disasters.
