Brian McGregor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine and a Behavioral Health Disparities Researcher at Morehouse School of Medicine, Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) Division of Health Policy. He earned a BS in psychology from Morehouse College as well as an MS and PhD in clinical/community psychology from the University of South Carolina.

As a past American Psychological Association Fellow, Dr. McGregor specialized in the treatment and prevention of substance abuse among racial/ethnic minorities. As an inaugural Health Policy Leadership Fellow at SHLI in 2009-2010, he focused on mental health policies, practices, and health disparities affecting African American boys and men of color. He has served as a clinician and supervisor of mental health services at medium and maximum security correctional facilities throughout the state of Alabama. He also served as a researcher for Community Voices: Healthcare for the Underserved.

Dr. McGregor’s research at SHLI focuses on developing community partnerships and collaborations that intersect among the areas of mental health, substance abuse, and criminal justice. His research aims to support policies and programs that reduce recidivism and improve behavioral health outcomes. He is involved in the implementation and evaluation of innovative healthcare strategies that are designed to improve healthcare access, quality, and outcomes among underserved and disenfranchised populations. He is committed to developing effective leadership strategies, policies, and practices to reduce disparities and advance equity in health and mental health.
